New curfew notice issued

Islandwide curfew will be imposed from 10.00 p.m. to 4.00 a.m. everyday from tomorrow (16) until further notice, except for essential services, Department of Government Information announced short while ago.

This decision came following rapid increase of COVID-19 patients and deaths owing to the spread of delta varient across the country.

Earlier, the government announced that all public gatherings will be banned from midnight today (15) until further notice while weddings are banned from midnight Tuesday (17).

Meanwhile, Sri Lanka recorded 161 COVID-19 deaths on Saturday (14). This is the 4th consecutive day in which the country recorded over 150 COVID-19 deaths.
