IUSF Convener and three others tested positive for COVID-19 while in remand

Convener of the Inter-University Students’ Federation (IUSF) Wasantha Mudalige and three others have been tested positive for COVID-19 while in remand custody

They were arrested for participating in a protest against the General Sir John Kotelawala National Defence University (KNDU) Bill recently.

Others who have been tested positive for the virus are President of the Sri Jayewardenepura University Students’ Federation Amila Sandeepa and Frontline Socialist Party (FSP) member Chameera Koswatte, who were a former IUSF Convener.

Meanwhile, holding a prss conference the FSP said that at the time of the arrests they were not infected with COVID-19.

“This is barbaric. The government should take the responsibility for the lives of them,” they said.
