State Minister of Money, Capital Market and State Enterprise Reforms Ajith Nivard Cabraal today (28) said that Sri Lanka cannot afford a lockdown half the population not being able to face it’s fallout.
In a tweet, the State Minister said that as a result of lockdowns 4.5 million persons in small and medium sized enterprises being driven to despair and macro fundamentals being seriously compromised.
He further said that due to lockdowns long-term economic damage will be widespread.
“The country must be kept open and functioning.
However strict restrictions must be imposed against COVID-19,” he said.
