Cabraal to resign from MP post on Monday?

It is reported that State Minister of Finance, Capital Markets and State Enterprise Reforms Ajith Nivard Cabraal is set to resign from his MP post on Monday (13).

He is set to be appointed as the Governor of Central Bank after that.

Speaking to the media this morning (11), Cabraal said that he accepted the request of President Gotabaya Rajapaksa to take up the post of CBSL Governor.

Current CBSL Governor Prof. W.D. Lakshman yesterday (10) announced that he will step down from the post on 14 September.

Prof. Lakshman said that he made the decision following some ‘hurtfull’ things happened during past few days.

Cabraal held the CBSL Governor post from 2006 to January 2015.
