Former State Minister Ajith Nivard Cabraal was appointed as the Governor of the Central Bank of Sri Lanka (CBSL) by President Gotabaya Rajapaksa, this evening (13).
He will assume the duties on 15 September while current Governor Prof. W. D. Lakshman is to retire from the post tomorrow (14).
Cabraal handed over his resignation as a MP to the Secretary General of Parliament Dhammika Dassanayake today (13). His vacant seat in Parliament will be filled by former MP Jayantha Ketagoda.
