MP Rishad Bathiudeen’s wife and father-in-law who were arrested and remanded over the death of their 16-year-old domestic maid have been released on two surety bails of Rs. 1 million.
However, Bathiudeen who is the fifth suspect of the case was remanded till 1 October by Colombo Additional Magistrate Rajindra Jayasuriya.
The victim was serving at Bathideen’s residence when she was admitted to Colombo National Hospital on 3 July with severe burn injuries. She succumbed to her injuries on 15 July.
Her body was exhumed later for a second autopsy.
