65 arrested while waiting to immigrate illegally

A group of 65 persons has been arrested by trincomalee Police while waiting to immigrate to New Zealand illegally by sea.

Among the group there was a 4- year-old toddler as well.

The arrests were made following a tip off provided by the State Intelligence Service. There were residents of Jaffna, Mullaithivu, Kilinochchi and Trincomalee in the group. The group stayed at a guest house when the arrest was taken place.

The Police are conducting further investigations into the incident.
