The Court of Appeal has ordered for notice to be served on the Attorney General and Admiral of the Fleet Wasantha Karannagoda to appear in court on 29 October.

A Writ Application has been filed with the Court of Appeal seeking an order null the decision of the Attorney General to drop the charges against Former Navy Commander Admiral of the Fleet Wasantha Karannagoda, one of 14 people accused of abducting the teenaged children of wealthy families in 2008 and 2009 and killing them after extorting money.

The Writ Application is filed by 4 relatives of the victims.

The AG on Wednesday (13) informed the Court of Appeal that the state will not pursue charges against Karannagoda, who was first indicted in 2019.

Karannagoda is the 14th suspect in the case filed by the Attorney General on charges including abduction and enforced disappearance of 11 youth from Colombo, at the Permanent High Court Trial-at-Bar.
