Minister of Education Dinesh Gunawardena has presented a Cabinet paper to give a cup of porridge to school children instead of previous proposal to give them a cup of milk.
It is reported that Rs. 23 has been allocated for each student for a cup of porridge per day. Porridge will be prepared from native rice varieties.
The project will be conducted in 923 of selected schools in island wide. Cups of porridges will be given to students from grade 1 to grade 5 in those schools.
