A No Confidence Motion will be brought to Parliament against Agriculture Minister Mahindananda Aluthgamage if he failes to provide a sustainable solution for fertilizer issue, the SJB MP Tissa Attanayake said.

Addressing a press conference, Attanayake said that the fertilizer issue has become the greatest issue in Sri Lanka at the moment as it has severely affected almost all the crops in the country.

“The farmers are protesting demanding fertilizer for their crops. That is not an anti- government move. They only want a permanent solution for their burning problem. But the government’s conduct has made such protests becoming anti-government movements,” he noted.

It is the duty of the Agriculture Minister to solve this issue immediately. Failing to do so, means he has violated the public confidence and trust about him. Therefore, if he fails to solve the fertilizer issue, we will bring a No Confidence Motion against him. We are sure that we will be able to win the motion, he said.
