Real murderer of Shantha Dodamgoda set free by AG: Counsel for ‘Choka Malli’ tells Court

Real murderer of incident in which Shantha Dodamgoda was murdered in 2015 during Presidential Election and MP Premalal Jayasekara alias Choka Malli was convicted for it, was set free by the Attorney General, the councel for Jayasekara said yesterday (8) to the Court.

According to the Daily Mirror, President’s Counsel Nalin Ladduwahetty appearing for third accused Premalal Jayasekera commenced his oral submissions and alleged that the Attorney General had filed indictments selectively, excluding the real culprits responsible for the commission of the offences.

Making submissions on behalf of the two other accused President’s Counsel Anuja Premaratne said that the witnesses of the case are not reliable.

Jayasekera and two others were convicted on 31 July 2020 by Ratnapura High Court for committing murder of Shantha Dodamgoda while being engaged in decorating an election stage in Kahawatta area.
