Minister of Power Gamini Lokuge has filed a complaint to the IGP seeking an investigation into recent power outages reported from Island wide in past few days.
Although Lokuge pledged that there will be no power outages, many areas in the country experienced power cuts in last few days, owing to the shortage of fuel to power stations.
According to the Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB), two generators at Kelanitissa Power Station had been disconnected due to the shortage of fuel, leading to the Island wide power outages.
The CEB warned that power outages will be inevitable if Ceylon Petroleum Corporation (CPC) does not supply necessary fuel to the power stations.
Meanwhile, the CPC has decided to supply 1,500 MT of diesel daily to CEB to ensure there is an uninterrupted supply of electricity.
