Investors are discouraged by the downgrading of Sri Lanka’s credit ratings by international credit rating agencies, says JVP Parliamentarian Dr. Harini Amarasuriya.

Speaking at an event, MP Amarasuriya stated that because of the President and the agricultural policy, everything has to be imported nowadays.

Mentioning that the country’s foreign relations have decreased, the MP stated that there is no trust in a Government within anybody.

Speaking further, she stated that Sri Lanka had fallen below the accepted ratings level and is too low for investors to make decisions.

Emphasizing that these ratings agencies are independent entities, Dr. Amarasuriya stated that the ratings are very important for an investor to make decisions.

“Investors don’t consult Ajith Nivard Cabraal before investing. Besides, in other countries, it is economic experts, not politicians, who become Central Bank Governors,” she added.
