Breaking: Hemasiri Fernando aquitted from Easter Sunday attack charges

The Colombo High Court Trial-at-Bar aquitted and released former Defence Secretary Hemasiri Fernando from all the charges filed reagrding not being able to avoid Easter Sunday terror attacks in 2019, a short while ago.

The Trial-at-Bar on met this morning to announce the decision on whether former IGP Pujith Jayasudara and former Defence Secretary Hemasiri Fernando will be released from the Easter Attacks cases, without calling for evidence from the Defence.

The Attorney General filed the cases against Fernando and Jayasundara on charges of criminal dereliction of duty for failing to take action to prevent the Easter attack despite receiving specific intelligence.

A total of 855 charges of criminal negligence had been levelled against Pujith Jayasundera and Hemasiri Fernando, individually.
