The Finance Ministry has decided to reduce the special import levy of Rs. 200 that was imposed per kg of dates to Rs. 01 with effect from today (28 March).
The tax has been reduced by Rs. 199 as a relief measure for Muslims during the upcoming Ramadan fasting period, the Finance Ministry said.
The Ministry further refuted reports claiming that the import of dates has been banned by the Government, stating that it has been spread with malicious intent.Â
