The Kalutara Magistrate’s Court has extended the remand of the private tutor accused of sexually abusing 16 female students in Kalutara. The suspect, who was taken into custody on 11 May, had been summoned to the Kalutara Divisional Bureau for Prevention of Abuse and Children to provide a statement regarding the allegations.
The incident came to light when the tutor’s wife lodged a complaint with the Kalutara North Police, claiming that her husband was engaged in extramarital affairs. Upon examining her husband’s laptop, she discovered a collection of video recordings showing him sexually abusing schoolgirls. The authorities conducted a thorough investigation into the matter following the complaint. The suspect will remain in custody until 07 July, as per the court’s orders.
