According to a high-ranking official from the Auditor General’s Department, there will be a special inquiry initiated concerning the procurement and allocation of medicines spanning the last two years.

Auditor General W.P.C. Wickramaratne has stressed that this investigation will thoroughly cover all pertinent organizations involved, which includes the National Medicines Regulatory Authority (NMRA) and the Medical Supply Division of the Health Ministry.

The primary aim of this extensive investigation is to guarantee transparency and accountability in the process of acquiring and distributing medicines, with the ultimate goal of safeguarding the health and well-being of the public.

By conducting this inquiry, the Auditor General’s Department seeks to ensure that all relevant institutions involved in the procurement and allocation of medicines, including the National Medicines Regulatory Authority (NMRA) and the Medical Supply Division of the Health Ministry, adhere to the highest standards of integrity and efficiency.
