The Minister of Justice, Prison Affairs, and Constitutional Reforms, Dr. Wijeyadasa Rajapakshe, has issued an Extraordinary Gazette regarding the upcoming implementation of the new Anti-Corruption Act.
According to the Gazette released on Friday, 8 September, this Act will come into effect on 15 September 15.
The primary goals of this new Anti-Corruption Act are to bolster transparency in governance, bolster public trust in the government, and establish an independent commission tasked with executing the powers and responsibilities outlined in the legislation.
Furthermore, the Act aims to fulfill Sri Lanka’s obligations under the UN Convention against Corruption and other international agreements related to corruption prevention, while also acknowledging global standards and best practices to foster a culture of integrity in Sri Lanka.
