The Human Rights Commission of Sri Lanka (HRCSL) has officially requested President Ranil Wickremesinghe to provide a copy of the recently approved ‘Anti-Terrorism’ Bill, as outlined in a statement released by the Commission.
The Commission has acknowledged that this Bill appears to be a revised edition of the one previously gazetted on 17 March 2023. Notably, the HRCSL had already conveyed its observations and recommendations regarding the earlier gazetted Bill.
In anticipation of receiving a copy of the updated version, the HRCSL intends to furnish additional observations and recommendations concerning the revised Bill.
