Firearm licence renew dates announced

The Ministry of Defence has officially announced that the renewal of firearm licenses, both for individuals and institutions, for the year 2024 will take place between October 1, 2023, and December 31, 2023.

Vital information and forms can be obtained from the Defence Ministry’s website at www.defence.lk.

It’s crucial to note that the renewal of firearm licenses for 2024 will not be possible after December 31, 2023. The Ministry emphasizes that the possession of a firearm without a valid license constitutes a punishable offense as per Section 22 of the Firearms Ordinance.

Additionally, registrations for the renewal of Private Security Firms for the year 2024/2025 will occur between October 1, 2023, and December 31, 2023. Any renewals made after this deadline will be subject to fines or legal actions.
