A shooting incident claimed the life of a former Police Inspector, with his brother sustaining injuries in Rathgama today, according to a police statement.
The deceased, a 40-year-old former Inspector of Police, passed away after receiving medical treatment.
It’s worth noting that the ex-Inspector had spent the last year and a half in remand custody due to alleged misconduct during his time on duty. He was recently released on bail.
Tragically, as he was returning from the Balapitiya court, unidentified assailants on a motorcycle attacked him near his home.
The Rathgama Police have launched an in-depth investigation into this incident.
