The Southern Provincial Education Ministry has made the decision to reopen schools in the Galle and Matara districts that were closed due to adverse weather conditions.
According to the director, schools in these districts have been closed since last Thursday due to the severe weather.
All necessary preparations have been made to resume classes, but there is currently no plan to hold extra sessions to make up for the missed school days. Instead, the focus will be on covering the curriculum during regular school hours.
Furthermore, the temporary use of schools as shelters for affected individuals has ended, and plans will be formulated to address the education of students whose schools are still impacted by flooding in the future, as stated by the Provincial Education Ministry.
