The Mulliyawalai Police discovered the body of a 22-year-old woman buried at her residence in Neeravippitti, Mullaitivu. This grim discovery followed a confession by her 23-year-old husband, who had been apprehended in Wellampitiya on Tuesday, 24 October, after committing the murder and subsequently fleeing the area.
The investigation unveiled that the suspect had killed his wife on the night of Saturday, 21 October, and then concealed her body in their backyard. The sequence of events leading to this discovery began when the Mulliyawalai Police received a complaint from the deceased’s mother on 22 October, reporting her daughter as missing and her mobile phone as unresponsive.
As a result, the deceased’s body has been transferred to Mullaitivu Hospital for a postmortem examination, while the arrested husband is scheduled to appear before the Mullaitivu Magistrate’s Court. The Mulliyawalai Police are currently conducting further investigations into this tragic incident.
