The Ministry of Education has expressed its concerns about the events that occurred on 24 October during the teacher-principal protest in Pelawatte.
The Ministry expressed its dismay regarding the use of tear gas and water cannons by the police to disperse the protesting teachers and principals.
It emphasized that these protesters were subjected to such treatment while attempting to address the challenges and issues within the country’s education sector.
The Ministry also conveyed regret about the unfortunate timing of this incident, as the Education Minister was away from Sri Lanka for a conference at that time.
