A gazette was issued introducing a new fee structure for national identity cards (NIC) and associated services. Among the changes, the cost for obtaining a certified copy of a national identity card is now a fixed rate of Rs. 1,000.

Additionally, the fees for certifying the accuracy of information linked to a national identity card have been revised. Online submissions now incur a fee of Rs. 25, while requests, whether made online or physically, pending approval by the Commissioner-General, come with a cost of Rs. 500.

Moreover, the renewal fee for the Certificate of Registration has been increased from Rs. 10,000 to Rs. 15,000, and a standard renewal fee of Rs. 3,000 has been introduced.

These changes are intended to simplify the registration process and improve accessibility for the public. You can find the updated regulations on the official Sri Lankan government website at www.documents.gov.lk.
