“Dinesh Schaffter’s death is a murder”: Court

The Colombo Magistrate’s Court today concluded that the death of the well-known businessman Dinesh Schaffter resulted from external pressure applied to his neck and facial area.

Consequently, the magistrate has determined that a crime was committed in this incident and has instructed the Director of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) to arrest the suspects involved and present them before the court.

A committee of five experts, including Judicial Medical Officers, tasked with investigating the actual cause of Mr. Schaffter’s death, submitted their findings from the post-mortem examinations to the Colombo Additional Magistrate’s Court on 31October.
