KFC Rajagiriya : Allegations of Rotten Chicken Spark Investigations and Consumer Outcry

In a recent development, customers of the Rajagiriya branch of KFC, a globally recognized fried chicken franchise, have raised concerns over the alleged sale of spoiled chicken. The incident came to light when a customer, Chamara Madusanka, reported receiving rotten and malodorous chicken during a ‘buy one get one free’ promotion at the aforementioned outlet.

Mr. Madusanka, dissatisfied with the quality of the food, promptly notified the Pitakott Medical Office of Health (MOH) and, accompanied by three Public Health Inspectors (PHI) officers, visited the Rajagiriya KFC outlet. Upon their arrival, it was discovered that several other customers had also approached the establishment to register similar complaints.

Public health inspectors took immediate action by sealing the refrigeration units at the KFC outlet, collecting samples of the allegedly spoiled chicken, and dispatching them to the Medical Research Institute (MRI) for further analysis. Subsequently, a formal case has been filed in response to the complaints.

Mr. Madusanka, who documented the entire incident in a one-hour video, has chosen not to publicly release the footage, citing its importance as evidence in the ongoing case.

This is not the first instance where KFC promotions have drawn attention for inconveniencing customers. Past incidents have seen customers traveling significant distances to avail themselves of ‘buy one get one free’ offers, only to be informed upon arrival that no chicken was available for the promotion. Such occurrences have sparked discussions on social media, with some users emphasizing the significance of consumers voicing their concerns in situations like these.

As investigations unfold, stakeholders await further updates on the matter, with a keen eye on the potential implications for the renowned international fast-food chain.
