President Ranil Wickremesinghe instructed that the construction of the Ashraf Memorial Museum in Kalmunai should commence immediately.
The late M.H.M. Ashraf, founder of the Muslim Congress and former Minister, was a distinguished politician who served the Muslim community with great dedication. In recognition of his contributions, President Ranil Wickremesinghe has directed the establishment of an “Ashraf Memorial Museum.”
The memorial museum is to be built in Mr. Ashraf’s hometown, Kalmunai at the request of Digamadulla District Member of Parliament H.M.M. Haris and the Muslim community
President Wickremesinghe has allocated LKR 25 million for this project and has instructed officials to commence construction without delay.
Mr. Ashraf, remembered as an eloquent lawyer and legislator, played a significant role in serving the Muslim population of the Eastern Province. He was widely respected across various ethnic communities, including Sinhala, Tamil, and Muslim groups in the country. (PMD)
