Heavy Rain Advisory Above 150 mm Issued for Multiple Provinces

The Department of Meteorology has issued an advisory for heavy rain in the Western, Sabaragamuwa, and North-western provinces, as well as the districts of Galle, Matara, Kandy, Nuwara-Eliya, and Mannar.

Due to the South-West monsoon conditions gradually establishing across the island, prevailing showery and windy conditions are expected to continue.

Very heavy showers above 150 mm are likely in the Western and North-western provinces, while heavy showers above 100 mm are expected in Sabaragamuwa province and the districts of Galle, Matara, Kandy, Nuwara-Eliya, and Mannar.

The general public, as well as the fishing and naval communities, are advised to take precautions to minimize damages from localized strong winds and lightning during thundershowers.
