The Ambassador of France to Sri Lanka and Maldives, Jean-François Pactet, has reportedly passed away in his official residence in Rajagiriya today (26).
Sources indicate that the diplomat succumbed to a sudden illness.
Born in 1970, Jean-François Pactet had served as Ambassador of France to Sri Lanka and the Maldives since October 2022.
A career diplomat, he had previously held positions such as Deputy Director of Culture and Education in the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs. His diplomatic postings included the French Embassy to the United States in Washington (2012-2016) and the French Permanent Representation to NATO in Brussels. He also served as a Deputy Spokesman for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of France.
