Red Alert: Heavy Rain Warning Until Monday Afternoon

The Department of Meteorology has issued a Red Alert warning for heavy rain until 2:00 pm on Monday, 3rd June 2024.

The Met department has updated its advisory, cautioning that the ongoing rainy conditions are expected to persist in the southwestern region of the island.

Very heavy showers, exceeding 150 mm, are anticipated in Western, Sabaragamuwa, and Northwestern provinces, as well as in Galle and Matara districts.

In light of this warning, the general public is urged to take necessary precautions to mitigate potential damages from temporary localized strong winds and lightning during thundershowers.
