Bus Driver Arrested for Driving on Railway Track, Remanded Until 14 June

The Avissawella Magistrate’s Court has ordered the remand of the driver of a private bus, following his reckless act of driving the vehicle along the railway track in Puwakpitiya.

The driver, apprehended in Embilipitiya yesterday (02), faced the court today (03), where police presented multiple charges against him, including attempted murder, driving with a suspended license, driving under the influence of drugs, and damaging public property.

Additionally, the bus involved in the incident has been seized by authorities. The shocking video of the bus traversing the railway tracks, shared widely on social media, ignited a wave of public concern on Sunday (02).
