President Ranil Wickremesinghe emphasized that failing to adhere to the International Monetary Fund (IMF) agreements would set the country back. He highlighted the importance of meeting economic targets outlined in these agreements to maintain the country’s economic stability, warning that deviating from these targets would harm the economy.
Wickremesinghe also urged support for the economic transformation bill presented to Parliament. He emphasized that it is everyone’s responsibility to implement the agreements to ensure the nation’s economic health and progress.
Additionally, the president called on the opposition to refrain from making politically motivated statements. Instead, he encouraged all political factions to work collaboratively to achieve the economic goals set forth in the IMF agreements.
