President Ranil Wickremesinghe has appointed a specialist committee to address salary disparities within the public service.

Chaired by former Presidential Secretary Udaya Seneviratne, the committee comprises several distinguished members, including S.D.J. Nilukshan, Director General of the National Budget Department; Hiransa Kaluthantri, Director General of the Management Services Department; S. Aloka Bandara, Director General of Combined Services; H.A. Chandana Kumarasinghe, Director General of Institutions; Dr. Terence Gamini de Silva; Duminda Hulangamuwa; Chandi H. Dharmaratne and Isuru Thilakawardena. Presidential Additional Secretary Vernon Perera serves as the committee’s secretary.

Given the careful consideration of existing salary inconsistencies among various public service employee groups, the 2025 budget will include measures to review and potentially adjust salaries, wages, and related provisions across all sectors. This responsibility has been entrusted to the Expert Committee.

Furthermore, the President has directed the committee to submit its recommendations report within three months.
