Field Marshal Sarath Fonseka’s criticism of SJB leader and Opposition Leader Sajith Premadasa stemmed from Fonseka’s disappointment at not receiving the Presidential candidacy he had requested, according to Tamil Progressive Alliance Deputy Leader Parliamentarian Palani Digambaram.

Digambaram stated that Fonseka had anticipated contesting as the Presidential candidate for the Samagi Jana Balawegaya. These remarks were made during a meeting held today at Weli Oya in Hatton.

Highlighting Fonseka’s history, Digambaram noted that he has been known to critique leaders across various political parties he has been associated with. He also mentioned that Fonseka, known for his military background, is reportedly considering aligning with President Ranil Wickremesinghe’s faction.
