Sixteen fixed deposit accounts and three life insurance policies belonging to the family members of former Health Minister Keheliya Rambukwella have been frozen by the Colombo High Court for another three months.

Colombo High Court Judge Manjula Thilakarathna gave this order today following a request of the Bribery Commission. On 27 June, Bribery Commission obtained restraining order with regard to these assets for seven days.

This action is connected to the investigation into the substandard human immunoglobulin scam, for which Rambukwella is currently in remand.

According to the Commission, the frozen fixed deposit accounts total Rs. 93.125 million and are held in the names of Rambukwella’s wife, three daughters, and one son-in-law.
