The police suspect that the killing of businessman Surendra Wasantha Perera, known as “Club Wasantha,” was a meticulously planned contract killing orchestrated from abroad.

The attack occurred at a tattoo parlor in Athurugiriya, where assailants armed with T56 rifles carried out a brutal assault, leaving four others injured.

Police spokespersons indicated that initial investigations suggest the attackers arrived in a vehicle, later found abandoned in Koratota, Kaduwela. CCTV footage captured the suspects abandoning the vehicle on the roadside before fleeing in a van.

While no suspects have been identified, preliminary information suggests the planning may have originated outside Sri Lanka. Authorities are actively pursuing leads and intensifying efforts to trace the suspects’ movements and origins.

A manhunt is currently underway to apprehend those responsible for the crime. Meanwhile, the injured are receiving treatment at both the Colombo National Hospital and Homagama Hospital.
