Social media personality Piumi Hansamali has lodged a petition with the Court of Appeal seeking a writ order to halt the ongoing investigation conducted against her by the Illegal Assets Investigations Division of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID).
In her petition, Hansamali names several officials, including the Inspector General of Police (IGP) and the Director of the CID, as respondents. She contends that the CID’s investigation into her alleged illegal assets is unjustified and has significantly harmed her reputation.
The actress asserts that the manner in which the investigation is being carried out lacks justification and has caused severe prejudice to her. Therefore, she urges the Court of Appeal to summon and review the case file currently before the Colombo Magistrate’s Court and issue a writ order to suspend the ongoing investigations by the CID’s Illegal Assets Investigations Division.
