A Police Constable from the Criminal Investigation Department (CID), who was accused of aiding the escape attempt of notorious drug trafficker Nadun Chithaka Wickremeratne, also known as ‘Harak Kata,’ has been acquitted by the court.
Police Constable Sanjaya Abeysinghe, attached to the CID’s Public Complaints Division, was arrested by the Terrorist Investigation Division (TID) and presented before the Colombo Fort Magistrate’s Court today (20).
He had been detained and interrogated by the TID for approximately 11 months
