NAHTTF Warns of Human Traffickers Targeting Young IT Professionals

The National Anti-Human Trafficking Task Force (NAHTTF) has issued a critical warning regarding an alarming increase in forced criminality associated with cyber scam centers in Myanmar. Traffickers are targeting young IT professionals with fraudulent job offers abroad, luring them with promises of high-paying positions in countries like Thailand.

Investigations reveal that victims are often taken to transit countries, such as Dubai, under the guise of job interviews before being forcibly transported to Myanmar, where they are coerced into working in cyber scam operations under severe conditions, including physical abuse and torture.

The NAHTTF strongly advises against illegal migration routes and warns job seekers to avoid opportunities requiring travel on visit visas, as this contravenes the Sri Lanka Bureau of Foreign Employment Act.

To protect vulnerable individuals from exploitation, the task force urges the public to seek safe and legal migration options and remain vigilant. Suspicious activities should be reported to the NAHTTF via:
