The Supreme Court has ordered the remand of Immigration Controller General Harsha Ilukpitiya until the conclusion of his case. Ilukpitiya faces contempt of court charges for failing to comply with a prior court order suspending a Cabinet decision regarding the outsourcing of Sri Lanka’s online and overseas visa operations.
In August, the Supreme Court issued an interim order, temporarily halting the Cabinet’s approval to hand over visa processing to a consortium led by GBS Technology Services, IVS Global-FZCO, and VFS VF Worldwide Holdings LTD.
