B.M.D. Nilusha Balasuriya, Additional Secretary of the Public Security Ministry, has been appointed Acting Controller General of Immigration and Emigration, Cabinet Spokesperson Minister Vijitha Herath said.
Speaking at the Cabinet media briefing, Herath explained that the appointment follows the current Controller General’s remand custody due to contempt of court charges.
Given the significance of the position, particularly concerning immigration and passport-related issues, Balasuriya was appointed to the role.
